We are looking for a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for our headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining company policies adhering to local, State and Federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Other essential functions include:

\n\n

\n\t

  • Support and engage in the companywide EHS management and training programs e.g. Hazard Communications, Incident Investigation, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene and Hazardous Material Disposal, etc.

\n\t

  • Respond to and analyze accident investigation and near miss reports as they relate to Garmin’s associates, property and regulatory compliance

\n\t

  • Conduct regular inspections of the warehouse operations, construction activities, and other high-risk areas to perform safety observations for compliance with internal policy, State and Federal safety rules and regulations. Identify potential safety and compliance issues and determine appropriate corrective actions

\n\t

  • Perform ergonomic and health hazard evaluations, to identify and evaluate risk within the work environment. Assist in identifying solutions to enhance safety

\n\t

  • Perform safety audits, hazard analysis and job safety analyses

\n\t

  • Track, analyze, audit and report key measures and goals to organization

\n\t

  • Assist with developing and delivering formal and informal employee training

\n\t

  • Develop process improvements on existing programs

\n\t

  • Monitor contractor safety programs

\n\t

  • Provide continuous, swift, and accurate feedback to Management as appropriate

\n

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related Health or Safety field from a four-year college or university. Other requirements include:

\n\n

\n\n

• Must possess a minimum of 3 years environment health and safety work experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description

\n\n

• Must possess demonstrated knowledge of accepted safety, hazardous materials and environmental regulation and practices

\n\n

• Must possess previous supervisory experience or demonstrated experience in leading, training, mentoring, and/or developing other team members.

\n\n

• Must possess demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and state and federal regulations

\n\n

• Must be familiar with and possess a working knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse processes relevant for successful performance of this role

\n\n

• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across functional and organizational lines

\n\n

• Must possess demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel

\n\n

• Must be detail-oriented and can work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment

\n\n

• Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism

\n\n

\n\n

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

\n\n

\n\n

• Safety or Environmental related Professional Certifications, e.g. CSP, CIH, CHMM

\n\n

• Experience with workers’ compensation

\n\n

• Hazard Analysis experience

\n\n

• Experience with OSHA standards related to construction

\n\n

• Emergency Management experience

\n\n

\n\n
