Machinist Team Lead

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist Team Lead with previous gearing experience. The ideal candidate will operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders to machine metallic workpieces. The role requires the ability to read blueprints, set up machines, perform inspections, and ensure product specifications are met. This position offers an opportunity to lead and mentor a team in a dynamic machining environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications.

  • Download programs into machines and review Program Headers for instructions.

  • Set up machines according to Set Up Procedure, Program Header instructions, and Work Instructions. Record setup on log sheet.

  • Install fixtures and tooling.

  • Operate equipment to produce parts to print and engineering specifications.

  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions and adjust machines as necessary.

  • Perform First Article Inspection and In Process Inspection on parts to verify engineering specifications. Document results.

  • Make adjustments and edit machine programs if needed or advise Machine Programmer of changes required. Upload edited programs to server.

  • Make adjustments to machines to compensate for tool wear and material compositions (speeds and feeds).

  • Remove, set up, and replace dull or broken cutting tools.

  • Inspect workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to determine accuracy of machine operation using a variety of measuring instruments.

  • Identify and analyze problems that arise during the machining process and create solutions independently.

  • Perform minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, tools, or workpieces, and adding coolant to machine reservoirs.

  • Verify calibration of measuring tools before using.

  • Follow Non-Conformance work instructions.

  • Document time in MES system accurately.

  • Work safely and promote a safe working environment.

  • Keep the working area clean and organized and maintain housekeeping to a high standard.

  • Deburr, stamp, clean, and package parts according to instructions.

  • Meet daily efficiency and productivity goals.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with CNC, blueprints, Fanuc, Okuma, and Okuma machining.

  • Proficiency in programming and operation of milling machines and horizontal boring mills.

  • Previous Fanuc or Okuma Machining experience.

  • Ability to lead a team effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • One year certificate from a college or technical school, or one to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Basic computer knowledge required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
