Garmin Senior High Level Software Engineer - Consumer Automotive in Olathe, Kansas

We are seeking a full-time Senior High Level Software Engineer for our headquarter in the greater Kansas City area. This team incorporates a wide range of navigation, camera and communication technologies to build products that are essential to our customer's lives. In this role, you will be responsible for developing moderately complex software and creating and executing designs for small sets of new functionalities for Garmin products and/or applications.\n \n\nEssential Functions \n\n\n\tServes in a leadership capacity for carrying out software development in C, C++, C#, Java, or other selected languages for new products and/or applications\n\tUtilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process\n\tMay serve as a Lead Software Engineer for complex software development project designs and/or reviews architected modules and software systems supporting new technology or improving capability/performance of existing functionality \n\tDecomposes functional requirements into well-defined tasks \n\tResearches fundamental problems and implements algorithm solutions that are appropriate\n\tOffers peer technical assessments in areas of expertise, new technologies and software designs \n\tAssists design engineering as needed with component datasheet review and schematic design review\n\tParticipates in project leadership and/or program planning including providing technical input to product development plans and concept documents\n\tMakes substantial contributions toward determination of project goal/objective feasibility and applies good judgment in setting schedules/risk taking\n\tMentors and/or supervises to less experienced Software Engineers (1 & 2) \n\tContributes to advanced technical research on new technologies \n\tOffers process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as appropriate\n Basic Qualifications \n\n\n\tBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience\n\tExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)\n\tDemonstrated proficiency with designing well architectured software systems and modules that support new technology or improve capability/performance of existing functionality \n\tDemonstrated capability to offer peer technical assessments in areas of expertise, new technologies and software designs \n\tMastered proficiency in writing software in C, C++, C# or Java and relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology\n\tProficient knowledge, utilization and mastery of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, and simulators\n\tMust be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment\n\n\n \n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
