Garmin Senior Product Manager - Garmin Health in Olathe, Kansas

Help create the future of digital healthcare! Garmin Health is seeking a full-time Senior Product Manager to lead product management of software medical device programs. You’ll work closely with Garmin Health leadership to set compelling product goals, define business requirements, and identify applicable regulations and standards to bring exciting medical software technology to market on the next generation of wearable technology. This is a hands-on role where you apply your expertise and diverse knowledge in medical device development processes to serve as the product expert coordinating cross-functional teams including Engineering, UX, Clinical Research, Marketing, Business, and Regulatory Affairs.\n\nUnder supervision of Management or Mentor, manage product planning, product execution, product launch, and product lifecycle in a Garmin Consumer business segment. Senior Product Manager is a developmental position where the Product Manager grows from managing simple products or components of more complex products to directly managing complex products within a product line. A fully capable Senior Product Manager should be able to manage a small product line of simple products or individual moderately complex products with minimal guidance. Other essential functions include:\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\n\n\tServe as a product champion for a small product line of simple products or individual or individual moderately complex products \n\tUnderstand and relentlessly champion Garmin Executive and Segment values & vision to set compelling product goals resulting in a superior product experience that answer the questions “Why Garmin” and “Why This Product”\n\tIn collaboration with Segment leadership, clearly identify and champion essential features which define a differentiated and superior product, the Key Requirements from the Product Concept, while discerning and rejecting features and products that are overburdened or are not useful to the target customer\n\tBe aware of compelling technology and understand the tradeoffs for implementation\n\tUnderstand and advocate for the voice-of-the-customer in Garmin products\n\tDevelop thorough market, customer and competitor understanding as inputs to the products and services definition & design process\n\tEvaluate, review and gain Segment and Executive approval of concepts/features/prototypes in partnership with development team to meet the agreed upon product vision and objectives\n\tExercise well-aligned judgment regarding product usability, customer expectations, and product tradeoffs \n\tDefine superior and essential products; whether a small product line of simple products or individual moderately complex products\n\tAssist with the development and management of worldwide product line vision and product roadmaps in collaboration with Segment Leader, Engineering, Sales and Marketing that are in-line with the Segment vision and satisfy the objectives of the Segment business plan\n\tDevelop criteria for new products including requirements, features, product ecosystem strategy and product lifecycle strategy\n\tLead the creation of compelling product concepts in collaboration with Engineering, ID, Sales and Executive management \n\tServe as the product expert for small to moderately complex product lines \n\tEvangelize the product’s vision and unique selling points with Marketing and Marketing Communications and review to ensure timely, accurate, cohesive, and effective communication of key features in all deliverables (packaging, web, advertising, press release, social, training, launch materials, etc.)\n\tProvide Sales and Marketing with necessary product knowledge and technical expertise to achieve product ranging in dealer channels\n\tProvide training to Product Support, serve as their expert in product questions and collaborate with the support team to understand product line issues in the field\n\tManage Product lifecycle and profitability\n\tManage products over the full lifecycle of roadmap, concept, development, production and End of Life in collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing\n\tMonitor product gross margin and collaborate with sales leaders in all regions to maximize gross margins over the life of the product\n\tEvaluate product cost tradeoffs with engineering against voice-of-the-customer inputs to deliver essential functions and best value while being a good steward of Garmin’s resources\n\tMonitor and give periodic product line reporting of sales, gross margin, opportunities & threats to the Segment and Executive boards.\n\tContribute roadmap, competitive analysis, and strategic planning input into yearly Segment business plan\n\tServes as a mentor to less experienced Product Managers\n\tDemonstrates proficient use and knowledge of established standards and procedures \n\tConsistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization\n\tProfessionally approaches situations in which conflict is present\n\tApplies Garmin’s Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibits enthusiasm for and a desire to see Garmin succeed\n\tAssociates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities.\n\n\nOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\n\n\tAttend industry tradeshows, customer meetings and other events as required\n\tPerform other job-related duties as assigned\n EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\n\nQualified candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field AND a minimum of 5 years experience proficiently performing similar essential functions. Other qualifications include:\n\n\n\tOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Must demonstrate effective ability to lead, drive and influence cross functional teams \n\tDemonstrates domain knowledge and active participation in the markets served\n\tMust demonstrate a strong aptitude for consumer electronics devices \n\tSelf-motivated and demonstrates a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion\n\tMust demonstrate a strong passion for Garmin, including its mission, products, values and success \n\tExcellent written and oral communication skills to present data and product recommendations to Engineering and Marketing/Sales/Executive management \n\tDemonstrates proficiency using MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)\n\tExceptional time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail\n\tAbility to travel up to 10%\n\n\nDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:\n\n\n\tExperience building health or medical products that incorporate both hardware and software\n\tExperience leading product development subject to regulatory processes and clinical trial validation \n\tExperience operating under FDA medical device quality system regulation (QSR) and/or ISO 13485 governed QMS. \n\tKnowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) regulation and processes\n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
