Garmin Senior RF Design Engineer in Olathe, Kansas
We are seeking a full-time Senior RF Design Engineer for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing electronic circuits, equipment and systems for Garmin's Aviation products. \n\nEssential Functions \n\n\n\tDesign, debug, and test Radio Frequency (RF) and Analog Circuits (power amplifier, low-noise amplifier and filter design).\n\tAbility to use advanced RF Simulation tools, design and build RF designs, and iterate RF simulation and physical design to achieve performance agreement.\n\tDemonstrated understanding and ability to implement basic RF design elements: Filters (distributed and lumped), transmission lines, Matching Structures, Small Signal Gain elements, Large Signal Design.\n\tDemonstrated understanding and ability to use RF design concepts: Smith Chart, S-parameters, VSWR, Quality Factor "Q", Linearity (P1dB, IP3), Cumulative Noise Figure, Techniques for accounting for RF parasitics.\n\tUnderstanding of signal processing concepts: Transfer Functions, RF Design for Sampled Systems, Modulation Types, Correlation Implementations (GPS, RADAR, etc...). \n\tPrepare or direct preparation of product layouts, detailed drawings and schematics.\n\tDirect and coordinate manufacture of prototypes.\n\tPlan and develop experimental test programs to verify compliance to all applicable regulations and quality guidelines.\n\tAnalyze test data and reports to determine if the proposed design meets functional and performance specifications.\n\tSupport production facilities in the manufacture of products.\n\tInterface with the Test Engineers and factory personnel on the testing and production of the products.\n\tPerform cost/performance tradeoff analysis of different circuit options.\n\tComplete documentation of the design in the required formats\n Basic Qualifications \n\n\n\tBachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience\n\tRelevant experience with RF test equipment and simulation tools (ADS, HFSS) for electronics deisgn, testing and documentation\n\n\nDesired Qualifications \n\n\n\tExperience with one or more aviation navigation receiver, communication transceiver, transponder or Radar designs\n\tExperience with X-band or higher frequency RF circuit design, Solid State transmitter design and/or GPS/Bluetooth/WiFi receiver design\n\tExperience with Antenna Design concepts and signals-in-space implementations\n\tExperience with beam-forming and phased array concepts\n\tUnderstanding of various classes or RF Amplifiers and trade-offs\n\tExpereince designing efficient power supply solutions for Large Signal RF Systems\n\tExperience using feedback to implement adaptive solutions\n\n\n \n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
