GDIT is looking for a Senior Network Operations Manager to manage the Network and Security operations for a Federal Civilian customer, as part of a large infrastructure contract. You will be managing a nationwide network with 100’s of endpoints on the WAN and LAN, and be responsible for Security operations (Firewall etc). You will also manage the data center network infrastructure for several data centers.
This is a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities and you should be flexible in your approach. This is an opportunity to get involved in an evolving environment with Software Defined Networking and Zero Trust Networking to look forward to.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on performance-based federal contracts and will be comfortable working with federal customers, vendors and GDIT management in an environment of similar size or larger. Because of the security operations aspect, the candidate will need to be eligible for a Secret clearance. Cisco certifications, such are CCIE or CCNA are also required. This position is based in Durham, NC, but will consider remote candidates.
Manages network professionals directly or through subordinate managers/supervisors.
May manage the development of policies and procedures and ensures their conformance with the departments goals and company/customer objectives.
Manages the development and administration of schedule and performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.
Manages and prioritizes network needs and analyzes project costs and feasibility.
Keeps well-informed of new technologies and industry best practices and trends and then plans and advises for implementation.
Oversees ordering process to effectively and economically meet objectives.
Plans new routing revisions to ensure that the network databases are consistent with network plans.
Ensures that traffic planning software is developed and revised to accurately report traffic levels.
Manages voice network reconfiguration.
Manages vendor relationships and billing reconciliations.
Provides guidance and solutions to ensure the network needs align with the strategic departmental initiatives.
Responsible for long-term planning, including circuit forecasts, traffic studies, and other network performance criteria.
SCOPE: Manages a medium to large team or department focused on multiple areas. Medium to High complexity.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and 10+ years of network engineering experience to include 5+ years of management experience.
Experience working in a federal contracting space highly preferred.
Knowledge of Cisco, Fortinet, and Citrix hardware and software.
Cisco certifications (such as CCIE or CCNA).
U.S. Citizenship required.
Ability to obtain secret clearance (active clearance preferred).
Exposure to Zero Trust and software defined networks.
Network architecture experience.
Experience in network chargeback solutions.
Experience managing complex WAN communication environments.
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) professional certifications.
Demonstrated experience operating and designing a network using routing protocols MPLS and MTIPS, IPSEC VPN.
Demonstrated experience performing compliance and vulnerability testing.
Demonstrated experience making recommendations for leveraging network installations and reducing operation costs.
