Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Position is located at Osawatomie State Hospital, days/hours may vary. This position may require you to work weekends. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.

This Social Worker Specialist - Benefits Position position is an integral and critical part of the treatment and development of patients discharge plan. Discharge planning begins at day one of hospitalization with the patients goal being priority. The Social Worker Specialist (Float Position) is to assist the unit social work specialist in completing and establishing benefits for discharge planning. This position may also help to complete assessments and providing coverage in the social work specialists absence to ensure discharge planning continues. Primarily this position will focus on building a robust benefits process to ensure the patient has the best outcome at discharge.

The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.

Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
