Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Services and the Deputy Director of Jefferson County Ambulance, the Paramedic is responsible for providing emergency health care to Jefferson County residents and visitors. They perform duties as described in K.S.A 65-6121 and amendments thereto.

The Paramedic will work a 48-96 hour rotating shift. A 48-96 hour shift is 48 hours working and then 96 hours off. Jefferson County Ambulance does not mandate overtime but overtime is there for full-time and part-time staff to cover. Jefferson County Ambulance provides a full kitchen, separate bedrooms for staff, and a lounge area for staff. There are large screen LED TVs at each station and Wi-Fi for employee use.

We use Zoll monitors. We have Zoll Autopulses, Zoll Z-vents, and Saphire IV pumps in our ambulances. We also use video laryngoscopy to aid in intubations. Our ePCR software is ESO and our scheduling software is Aladtec.

Our call volume is around 1500-1600 calls a year. We do have daily station duties that are expected to be done but when they are done, you can spend the downtime doing what you want. Occasionally, you may be required to do other EMS duties that are not listed but are assigned by the Director or Deputy Director.
