Hamm CST/BC - Batchman/Plant Operator in Ottawa, Kansas

This is a skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of the ready-mix concrete business. Operator controls the process to produce concrete from raw ingredients and additives according to predetermined specifications using computer batching software. Verifies correct admixtures are used in correct dosages and provides verification that the concrete batched meets the specifications established by company and customer. This position requires day to day interaction with customers and additional employees.
Ensure all individuals have proper PPE
Facilitate weekly safety meetings
Ensure all delivery trucks are safe to run and review daily inspections
Ensure the staff performs work in a manner consistent with safety protocols previously laid out
Ensure the plant facility is kept clean and safe to operate
Be responsive to safety inspection reports and correct items identified in a timely manner
Ensure all repair and maintenance is performed at prescribed intervals on the plant (ie: daily, weekly, monthly)
If the plant needs to be repaired in the evening for next day deliveries, that is the expectation.
If a crew is on site tending to plant needs, their schedules are to be accommodated as we have other tasks scheduled behind that one you may be unaware of.
Work with aggregate transportation dispatcher for delivery of raw materials.
Batch concrete and ensure mixes hit the batch weights designed, verify slump and quality of concrete. Interact with QC department in all aspects of concrete production.
Handle personnel issues consistent with company policy. Coordinate with your supervisor if necessary.
Schedule concrete orders, plant and delivery personnel, vacations, turn in required information weekly for payroll and other administrative needs.
Run wheel loader when needed to fill plant
Run monthly inventory
Turn in all inventory and month end reports.
Interface with QC department as necessary for production verification needs, support and quality requirements
Work with QC for project submittals and mix design verification
Interact professionally and respectfully with customers
Do your best to solve scheduling conflicts
