Salary:

Purpose of the position

This position is focused on meeting North American domestic sales objectives for ZEV Terminal Tractor equipment sales in the assigned region. This position will report to the Director of Terminal Tractor Sales, Kalmar USA, Inc. Working through Kalmar Dealer network and assigned direct accounts, the Manager will promote and capture sales within the region and will serve as the liaison between the dealer and the Kalmar Sales/Service/Parts network. Ideal candidate will also be able to effectively communicate with the engineering team about specific customer needs.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Achieve sales volume objectives for the assigned region.

  • Maintain analysis of customer needs and product requirements to satisfy customer wants by segment.

  • Conduct product training internally and for the dealer sales organization to ensure dealer competency.

  • Work with the Director of Sales to establish sales goals for dealers and communicate with the dealer operations team.

  • Maintain market information on competitive product content and pricing.

  • Responsible for fleet sales to direct accounts as assigned.

  • Provide on-going input to dealer performance evaluations and dealership action plans.

  • Manage the sales discounts within guidelines.

  • Assure that proper inventory and demonstrators are available. Work with the internal team to ensure that the demo units are deployed properly and effectively.

  • Provide input for forecasts on sales and industry volume.

  • Development of funding programs to assist dealers and direct customers to capture subsidy opportunities.

  • Develop and offer infrastructure solutions for dealers and direct customers which includes proper charging solutions.

  • Achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Communicate all sales programs.

  • Work with Engineering, Parts, Product Support and Dealer Development to maximize performance in all areas.

  • Strong working knowledge of CARB criteria/programs and the states that are endorsing CARB compliance or that soon will be.

What you’ll need to succeed

Education:

  • Business Management degree; will consider combination of Sales/Marketing experience and education in lieu of BS degree

Experience:

  • Broad understanding and experience in dealer retail business.

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in heavy industrial equipment sales and support with heavy emphasis in electrified vehicles.

  • Should possess a technical aptitude for heavy equipment; some knowledge of engineering is a plus.

Competencies:

  • Candidates must have superior communication and negotiating skills and the ability to communicate with individuals and/or groups consisting of principle owners, dealer representatives, customer-end users and other sales, parts, technicians or service personnel.

  • Must be able to face and address difficult issues and personalities.

  • Able to build credibility with the dealer organization is critical to the success of the programs.

  • A "Can Do" attitude and sense of urgency is required to create change and to impact our overall performance.

  • Must be capable and willing to travel and represent a large Region (US & Canada) – requiring travel 2 to 3 weeks per month / 3-4 days per week.
