First-line supervision of nursery workers performing all aspects of growing and caring for containerized plant material in assigned nursery section. At management\'s direction, assign tasks and monitor production operations and crops conditions. Monitor crops for insects/diseases and plan/apply appropriate preventative and curative treatments. Time crop cycles to sales plan to ensure best quality/availability for customers. Communicate instructions to crews in English and Spanish, train/assist workers in plant production/growth activities and/or equipment operation. Direct or assist with farm equipment operation, adjustment, or repair. Inspect equipment or facilities to determine condition or maintenance needs. Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems in assigned nursery section. Communicate crop conditions, write crop reports, and maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products. Perform basic math calculations on square footage to execute space plan. Will conduct winter clean-up around company property. Will prepare and maintain equipment for growing season. Must be able to visually identify plant varieties and apply species-specific growing principles. Must be willing/able to work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions and lift/carry items or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. post-hire drug testing required before beginning work and post-accident. Be able to identify each plant grown and species-specific growing principles. Written and verbal language proficiency in English and Spanish required to communicate with management and work crews. Requires 36 months of prior horticultural experience. .
