Summary: A successful Business Banker will assist in building a profitable banking center through outside sales and promotion of bank products to qualified clients, by ethical oversight of bank operations, and by fostering a positive environment that provides superior client experience and associate engagement. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Produces sales based on daily / monthly / quarterly / annual budgeted goals. Responsible for generating new business for the banking center based on generating own leads. During the first year, and thereafter as needed, will follow leads generated from targeted marketing campaigns.

  • Responsible for actively connecting with target client groups; and actively participating in local organizations, such as the local Chamber of Commerce.

  • Spends at least 50% of time engaged in outside sales, marketing bank products to target clients outside the banking center by contacting potential consumers, businesses, and community/civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business; explaining appropriate bank products to target audience; interviewing clients to obtain information and explain available financial services; taking loan applications, quoting rates and closing loans with clients; cross selling new products to current bank clients. Expected to engage in a minimum of 3 sales activities daily. Expected to be a subject matter expert in consumer and business deposit accounts, consumer lending, treasury management, and small business lending.

  • Ensures client experience is “fast, easy, and personal” consistent with Company client service standards.

  • Accountable for all banking center procedures to ensure profitable and secure business.

  • Ethically conducts operational tasks related to protecting client and bank assets and related to regulatory compliance, including properly documenting account opening, accounting for cash and negotiable instruments under dual control, completing logs and other records to document proper procedures, obtaining and ensuring the accuracy of all regulatory and procedural documentation.

  • Maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements; Employee Handbook policies; and Operations, Audit, and Security policies, through regular and thorough training.

  • May perform banking transactions for clients, including cash transactions, cashing checks, assisting with deposits and withdrawals, issuing cashier’s checks and money orders, assisting with wire transfers, opening checking and savings accounts, and assisting clients with obtaining other bank products, including credit cards and loans.

  • Assist clients with other banking services, including giving balances, answering questions about accounts, taking and resolving complaints, and assisting with on-line banking transactions and questions and assists clients in taking advantage of self-service options for these services.

  • Understands, embodies, communicates and instills corporate initiatives and vision, including the Six Pillars of Success.

  • Maintains client information and confidential associate information in complete confidence.

  • Completes other specified duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance required, working at the work site during regular business hours and/or assigned hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by banking center hours.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 3+ years of outside sales experience required; financial services or technical sales preferred.

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience; experience supervising internal sales staff preferred.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce platform preferred.

  • Proven track record of business development skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Financial services aptitude.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).

  • Understanding of retail banking loan and deposit products preferred.

  • Position requires driving. Candidates must have a satisfactory driving record, reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance.

  • Ability to be NMLS licensed and registered required.

    Physical Requirements:

    The work environment is typical of standard office and retail banking settings. The position is medium work, exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and worker may sit for computer work, but worker will frequently stand or make one’s way throughout different areas of banking center. Standing and making one’s way may be required for sustained periods of time for moving from one work site to another inside banking center and for conducting banking transactions. Reaching may be required involving extending arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone will be used, requiring the ability to manipulate a keyboard or keypad. Visual ability to read a computer screen or written documents is necessary. Speaking ability to express or exchange ideas; impart oral information to customers, staff, or to the public; or convey detailed or important spoken instructions by means of the spoken word is required. Hearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oral communication.
