As a Clinical Authorization Specialist , you will be responsible for the oversight and operation of clinical authorization requirements. Clinical support person for authorizations department in review of clinical information requirements from a variety of payor sources in order to reduce the risk of non-payment by insurance carriers. Works under general supervision.

  • Perform review of medical records and documentation related with an emphasis on eligibility requirements.

  • Ability to sort and compile patient medical record information to be consistent with home health eligibility requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, and various commercial policies.

  • Manage and communicate with the team on the appeal process.

  • Work with the field staff on obtaining all documentation necessary for clean claim billing.

  • Collaborate with senior management in the development and analysis of performance metrics to ensure department operations support the achievement of the Agency strategic goals and objectives

Required Skills


  • RN required

  • One year experience with insurance billing

  • Familiarity with employment related regulations (state and federal) required

  • Ability to work with confidential information

  • Well organized and confident to work independently, but is a team player

  • Ability to communicate clearly to field, mid-level, and executive staff

  • Exercises professional judgment and demonstrates good problem-resolution skills

  • Very comfortable working with multiple online and computer applications

  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and manage conflicting priorities

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
