In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. This position will be located in Kansas City, MO


The selected candidate will join our Data Integrations team of Data Architects and ETL Developers within the IT division at the Kansas City National Security Campus. This role will help the team administer our data quality and data integration applications from performing application installs, upgrades, patches, configuration, to helping internal business customers when they have questions or issues. There will be a mix of project based and application support so your daily work day will be dynamic.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs installation, functional and performance testing, maintenance, and modification, as well as configuration and monitoring of commercial off the shelf (COTS) software

  • Demonstrates project management skills and may serve as a technical lead on IT projects

  • Resolves moderately complex computer security issues by designing, developing, and implementing innovative technical solutions

  • Provides technical leadership in areas of responsibility and looks for ways to apply latest technologies for improvements to software and organizational effectiveness

  • Participates in planning sessions with customers to improve business processes and prioritize investments in process, people, services, and infrastructure. Works closely with Technical Review Board and Enterprise Architects to assure all systems align with the long-term IT strategy

  • Assists in developing buy vs. build recommendations, including advises on system options, risks, return on investment (ROI), and impacts on business processes and goals

  • Analyzes existing information systems and applications to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements

  • May lead the evaluation and selection process for new application packages

  • Identifies system requirements, develops application specifications, conversion and migration designs

  • Establishes liaison relationship with business partner and/or suppliers in order to provide technical solutions through the analysis of business workflows and an understanding of business needs.

  • Manages multiples priorities of projects and requests

  • Assesses customer needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to prioritize immediate business needs

Defines, develops or modifies application modules or enterprise-wide software systems using disciplined software development processes

  • Adheres to quality standards and procedures

  • Reviews modules for quality assurance and validates compliance with application architecture standards

  • Conducts unit testing of application modules to ensure compliance to specifications

  • May assist in defining development guidelines and standards for software development

  • Documents changes to system and application architecture diagrams, integration and conversion plans

  • Assists in development of reports and presentations for senior management

  • Provides Tier III support for applications

  • Provides technical guidance, business process expertise and technical leadership to team members

  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment.     You Must Have:

  • US citizenship in order to obtain and maintain US Dept. of Energy “Q” level security clearance

  • Two or more years of direct work experience

  • Bachelors degree, certification or two additional years of direct work experience in lieu of Bachelors degree or certification
