Job Summary:

HCA Midwest Division seeks a leader to serve as the Graduate Medical Education Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and guide our residency and fellowship programs.

Qualified Candidates:

  • Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy, Doctorate-level (i.e., PhD, EdD, JD), or other qualifications deemed appropriate by the Division Vice President of GME and facility leadership.

  • Prior experience as a DIO, significant experience as a program director, or other GME administrative role is highly preferred.

  • Experience in undergraduate medical education administration or other healthcare industry administration may be appropriate.

  • For physicians, specialty board certification and eligibility for a license to practice medicine in Missouri and Kansas are required.

  • Role is an integral part of HCA Healthcare's community of DIOs and its GME leadership team and has the authority and responsibility for the oversight and administration of the sponsoring institution's ACGME-accredited programs, as well as for ensuring compliance with the ACGME institutional, common, and specialty/subspecialty-specific program requirements.

  • Collaborate with the Division VP of GME and other division and hospital leaders to improve the educational quality of each program.

  • Lead the local GME team in constantly improving the working and learning environment to create a positive culture and an outstanding experience for all residents and fellows.

  • Monitor changes in ACGME accreditation standards and requirements and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders within the institution.

  • Option to work in a clinical setting which will depend on the specialty and the availability of a desired practice setting.

  • For qualified candidates, there is the option of active engagement with our partner medical school[s], an appointment with the school's academic faculty, and the expectation of active engagement with national GME-related professional organizations.
