Summary

The Director, Operational Accounting will oversee and manage all accounting operations across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and the implementation of efficient accounting processes. The Director will lead a team of accounting professionals, drive strategic financial initiatives, and support the overall financial health of the organization.

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following

  • Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure alignment with company objectives.

  • Manage monthly close process, financial reporting, and forecasting processes.

  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring robust internal controls are in place.

  • Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and financial transactions.

  • Communicate financial results and insights to senior management, the board of directors, and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and company policies.

  • Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and internal controls.

  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and SEC regulations.

  • Assist with the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual reports (10-Q, 10-K) and other regulatory filings.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals across multiple sites.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and training.

  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives and drive financial performance.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification is preferred.

  • 10 years of progressive accounting experience required.

  • 5 years in a senior management role preferred. Supervisory experience required.

  • Extensive experience in operational accounting within a publicly traded company.

  • Proven track record of managing financial reporting and compliance with GAAP/IFRS and SEC regulations.

  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of accounting professionals required

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is required
