Staples ECommerce Strategy Manager- REMOTE in Overland Park, Kansas

  • The vision for this role is to understand project vision, manage strategic roadmap and provide opportunities to recommend solutions to improve the digital customer journey for SPP ecommerce site users and prospective clients and internal processes and tools for SPP sales, merchandising and special order execution and support teams.

  • Thoroughly understand digital and call center experiences, and our teams to drive positive external / internal user feedback, engagement metrics and financials.

  • Critical conduit to collaboration and execution of support team.

  • Given the strategic and cross-channel nature of this role, the successful individual must possess a unique combination of structured strategic thinking, passion and curiosity for technology & user experience, as well as strong collaboration skills.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Impact on Business:

  • Understand SPPOne platform, Bridge and Product Marketplace platform vision and partner closely with senior stakeholders to lead expansion and execution of SPPOne sites in alignment with our business roadmap strategy

  • Collaborate with internal teams to design, develop and implement digital ecommerce programs and product configuration and special-order tools.

  • Focus on revenue generating actions, creating a tool set to support sales driving departments or partners, measurements per segment to be determined.

  • Focus on transitioning out of legacy systems to new cloud database platforms, driving automation and efficiency activities, creating a tool set to support merchandising, sales and special-order partners, measurements per segment to be determined.

  • Project manage SPPOne ecommerce platform / Bridge and marketplace strategic execution and collaborates with partnering teams to deliver appropriate projects according to goal.

  • Communicates strategic direction changes to SPP roadmap required to service segments above, and/or recommends new approach.

  • Builds and maintains productive, professional relationships with key personnel within Staples Promotional Products, Staples, additional business partners.

Innovation and Change

  • Leads solution development efforts that best address customer/user needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.

  • Identifies enhancement opportunities for SPPOne sites and BNG programs in a phased, actionable approach for overall growth of site and digital presence. Identifies enhancement opportunities of internal systems to improve SPP tech stack for better efficiency and faster speed to market. Challenges teams to think outside of the box to achieve goals. Drives tech solutions by working with IT, Web Development and 3rd party vendors to build solutions and enhance theme as necessary.

  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.

Communication/Interactions: Internal & External Customers / Suppliers as well as Third Parties

  • Works with internal SPP teams including UX, SPPOne operations, merchandising, sales on discussions for storyboard, user flow, analytics.

  • Works with 3rd party vendors including AMLA, Artify, LiquidPixels discussions for storyboard, user flow, analytics.

  • Works with Staples Corporate customer experience, IT development and customer experience leaders to create platform work plan to achieve overall goals for Staples.

People Leadership

  • Critical effort to lead through influence (learned skills). This role will lead cross functional teams and will coordinate with cross functional management to support training, and performance.

  • Develop requirement and support documentation, including strategy overview, implementation specifications and measurement tracking strategy

  • This role leads the team to success through successful organization, prioritization, and execution of the business plan.

  • Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet StaplesPromo.com performance objectives and customers’ expectations.

  • Responsible for understanding and communicating the strategy with support partners.

  • Leadership and communication skills are extremely important as this role is results oriented, requires ability to create clear vision, balances feedback from key contributors with unique needs, as well as services various target audiences and segments. This role balances strategy with execution.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of product and technology professionals to deliver high quality experiences in a fast-paced and demanding environment

  • Track record of driving strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovative thinking in digital platforms, prioritizing business initiatives

  • History of navigating large complex organizations and bringing together cross functional teams

  • Demonstrated ability to foster relationships that build a high degree of collaboration across all levels and areas of an organization

  • Curious and hands-on leadership style that ensures a team understands the vision and is motivated to deliver

Professional Knowledge/Experience

  • Strong attention to detail with organizational, planning and time management skills. Maintains a high level of focus and composure under time constraints while executing multiple projects and programs concurrently.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to an ever-changing eco-system

  • Previous project management or leadership role experience

  • 3+ years of experience in ecommerce customer experience product management, digital selling tools.

  • Experience partnering with business and technical teams to deliver results.

  • Understand and gather complex business needs and requirements from a diverse set of stakeholders and document them.

  • Knowledge of B2B ecommerce, industry trends, and technologies. Desired but not required: Knowledge of promotional products industry ecommerce trends, customer needs, and production methodologies
