Duties

Conduct research, perform analysis, run proprietary and customized models and prepare presentations and reports in the following energy market and tariff rates forecast, and technical and market due diligence services and economic assessment for emerging new energy, zero carbon or low carbon energy sources and fuels. Support the execution of consulting engagements. Perform and/or direct research and analysis. Prepare project deliverables and contribute to client communications. Ensure individual contributions are aligned with client needs and consistent with overall engagement objectives. Understand and consistently meet client expectations within scope of engagement role by responding promptly and professionally to their inquiries. Apply appropriate analysis methodologies to meet the specific needs of the client and engagement demands. Conduct analysis in a consistent, thorough, and careful manner to ensure the accuracy and validity of the assumptions. Understand energy market structure, regulatory regime, and pricing mechanisms. Understand regulatory, technical, environmental, commercial and economic aspects of the energy markets. Closely coordinate and work with Black and Veatch’s Global Advisory team to ensure consistency between market and transmission studies. Skillfully utilize financial analysis tools and economic models. Execute specific work scopes or analyses for multiple projects using the assigned methodology and prepare work products. Propose analytical approaches, research for assumptions, and perform analyses to meet client needs. Anticipate challenges, and implement strategies to minimize issues, leveraging team members skills and expertise as appropriate. No hire / fire authority. Requirements

Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or Engineering or a related field plus a minimum of 3 years of related experience. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or Engineering or a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Requires one year of experience in the business and consulting environment within the energy and utility sector, specifically in the areas of Electricity/Power, Renewable Energy Technologies, Conventional Generation, Transmission, Financial Analysis and Modeling, and Project Finance. Must have one year of experience with energy market pricing mechanisms, resource adequacy, transmission congestion and curtailment analysis, financial analysis, data analysis using programming languages including Python, R, and VBA, and production cost modeling including PROMOD, AURORA, or comparable packages. Must have one year of experience working within the federal and state regulatory framework of the energy markets, as well as experience working within the technical, environmental, commercial and economic aspects of the energy markets. Requires experience working on transactions and due diligence lifecycles. Must have experience working in one or more aspects of the consulting processes. Must have advanced experience in one or more target energy industries, including wholesale and retail energy markets, RTOs or ISOs. Position is fully remote. Requires travel up to 25%. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
