Actalent Environmental Technician in Overland Park, Kansas

We have partnered with a large environmental consulting firm seeking to train an Environmental Field Technician to work on large agricultural projects within the mid-west. No experience necessary. The ideal candidate must be willing to travel (home most weekends) and be mechanically inclined.
Responsibilities
Properly operate, monitor, and maintain gas collection systems in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure compliance with prescribed operating parameters and goals.
Perform routine blower and flare operations.
Manage condensate system operations and maintenance.
Conduct surface emissions monitoring.
Perform field sampling at various test locations including wells, probes, headers, blowers, flares, and pumps.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain various analytical and monitoring equipment.
Perform maintenance activities such as greasing blowers, cleaning tanks, fusing pipe, and repairing pumps.
Collect, evaluate, and interpret scientific data; communicate observations and technical data verbally and in writing with supervisors and clients.
Record and maintain daily field logs reporting data collected, field observations, actions taken, and recommended actions to be taken.
Work independently after training is completed.
Essential Skills
Mechanically inclined and able to use hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.
Ability to operate electric tools such as drills and saws.
Capability to meet physical requirements such as driving a pickup truck, walking inspections, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. unassisted, hand excavation, carrying and climbing ladders, and operating from man lifts.
Willingness to work under varying weather conditions.
Ability to travel frequently and be home most weekends.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in construction, general labor, environmental field, remediation, or farming is beneficial.
Skill in balancing and maintenance of gas collection systems.
Ability to perform maintenance activities such as greasing blowers and cleaning tanks.
Experience in field sampling and surface emissions monitoring.
Work Environment
The role involves frequent travel with the provision of per diem for meals ($55/day) and company-covered hotel accommodations. The work involves physical activities such as lifting, carrying, hand excavation, and operating tools and equipment. An assigned work truck with fuel and maintenance is provided. Work is conducted independently or as part of a team, adhering to safety principles and under varying weather conditions.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
