**Summary: The person in this position is responsible for helping to drive sales by ensuring dealer locations are efficiently and safely handling Compass Minerals products and that sales staff are knowledgeable and confident to support customers with their main technical questions and needs. This individual will develop equipment and process solutions to meet the needs of various customer operations and lead the implementation of the solution.

Ability to ensure efficient and effective product application helps drive sales with existing and new customers. Works closely with Application Technology / Equipment Solutions Manager, Area Sales Managers and Sales Representatives to ensure smooth product application is a driver of sales. Train dealers and sales staff on product application issues including dry fertilizer coating, plus foliar and liquid fertilizer applications. Proactively visit key accounts to identify opportunities for business growth via improved application equipment or improvements to existing procedures. This entails assessing the operation, developing a solution, costing out the capital requirements, and leading the implementation of approved projects. Responsible to ensure new equipment is set up correctly at dealer locations and to ensure new customers are effective and efficient in handling Compass Minerals’ products. Responsible to resolve dealers or farmer technical issues – identify the root cause of problems, research and develop the optimal method for addressing unique issues, provide solutions to the dealer, and communicate solutions to the sales team.
Assist with the development and roll out of new application technologies including identifying and recommending potential solutions, collaborate with equipment manufacturers to develop improved handling solutions for Compass Minerals products, research, test and document performance of new equipment, and following up on installations of new equipment at dealer locations to verify and improve processes.
Train sales force and specific dealers on equipment.
Research equipment solutions for constant improvement in collaboration with equipment vendors.
Attend dealer oriented trade shows.
Responsible for tracking of equipment spend and monthly reviews of equipment tracking for each completed project vs contract.
Education and/or Experience:
Eight years of work experience in technical support/customer service or agricultural sales. A full understanding of bulk handling equipment and understanding process plant flow, are important assets.
The ability to troubleshoot, advise, and coordinate repairs to electronic controls (panel box controls) including wireless starters, motor starters, power supply and voltage converters, process logic controllers, relays, timers and scales is required. Also, need a working knowledge of compressed air and understanding CFM ratings.
Applicants should possess one or several of the following: previous equipment sales, fertilizer related equipment a plus, material reduction equipment experience, has worked with fine powders, understands general plant processes and flow.
This position is not a design related position where engineering is required, but needs to have solid mechanical knowledge and understanding, also understanding and ability to read and interpret CAD drawings. Having a high level communication skills to present and sell equipment solutions.
