YRC Freight Fleet Specialist in Overland Park, Kansas

Fleet Specialist - ( 2101BR )

Primary Location : US-KS-Overland Park

Shift : Day

JOB SUMMARY

Develop, coordinate and administer parts and fluid inventory related improvements and reports. Create improved reporting processes for administration of engine and component inventory. Negotiate and process warranty claims. Provide system equipment maintenance support. Provide support to managers responsible for field-based equipment maintenance processes and specification of revenue equipment. Perform associated support and administrative duties as assigned. Support managers responsible for technical administration for a 1,000 field-based equipment maintenance team. The position also involves daily contact with field locations and equipment related vendors. Confidential information is handled by this position on occasion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Follow all administrative procedures relating to the addition and disposal of company assets. Assist in the development and implementation of procedural changes necessary to ensure continued compliance. Ensure all affected mainframe and/or PC databases are appropriately updated throughout the life of each piece of equipment. Prepare and distribute titles for sold equipment, communicating with vendors and regulatory agencies as required.

  2. Gather and compile information and prepare reports relating to shop operations. Processes include daily wage and inventory results, monthly goal status reporting, lost-time injury reports, overdue PM status, required state/federal vehicle inspections and other functions as required.

  3. Track tire and part inventories providing the required reports to Equipment Services management for review and follow-up as necessary.

  4. Audit as required, information contained in our mainframe parts/inventory system. Ensure the asset disposal process is administered according to policy and in the best financial interest of the company.

  5. Enhance freight flow by expediting repair service and contacting terminals and/or central dispatch. Contact terminals and relay operations when needed to insure all are kept updated on service issues.

  6. Follow up on equipment repairs for further inspection needs, warranty and history information as required. Generate reports and process invoices in a timely manner to insure prompt payment.

  7. Provide authorization and repair processing information to vendors, rail operations, and others needing vehicle repair guidance.

  8. Identify issues and opportunities that contribute to process improvement. Participate in efforts to implement solutions, working on team objectives and goals.

  9. Track training for mechanics ensuring information provided by the field is accurately input into the system and certificates of completion and other acknowledgements are sent as required. Provide information to Equipment Services Management for review and follow-up as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

  2. One (1) year of experience in a customer service related job.

  3. Proficiency using PC applications including Microsoft Office, especially Access and Excel.

  4. Ability to operate efficiently in a mainframe environment.

  5. Demonstrated analytical skills.

  6. Must have excellent organizational and prioritization skills for handling multiple duties and processing details.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Some college coursework.

  2. Knowledge of the transportation industry.

  3. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair services.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
