Job Summary

The Grant Development Specialist position will assist our client in acquiring financial support from external entities by identifying funding opportunities and writing and preparing grant proposals.

The Grant Development Specialist will:

  • Write grant proposals and research potential funding opportunities from, public, private, state, and federal sources

  • Assist with communication of funding opportunities, coordination strategies, determine eligibility, and program requirements

  • Assist in the preparation of the proposals, edit and prepare the final application package for submission. Monitor funded activities

  • Monitor JEO’s compliance with proposal objectives and funding agencies reporting and accountability standards

  • Develop and maintain an internal summary of available funding opportunities and calendar of deadlines. Review proposal feedback for potential resubmission opportunities and/or submission to other grant agencies

  • Attend conferences to identify new and changing funding opportunities

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Planning, Journalism, or related fields

  • 3+ years of experience in grant writing or funding  

  • Outstanding technical writing and editing, and organization skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Independent and resourceful research skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant writing and administration

  • Knowledge of public facilities and infrastructure

  • CDBG certified, or willingness to obtain certification

  • Familiarity with state and federal funding programs

  • Experience with grants.gov portal
