HR Co-Op (Inclusion, Recruitment, and Employee Engagement Focus)
Position Overview:
Are you passionate about HR and have a love for pets? Here’s your opportunity! We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated HR Co-op to join our team. As an HR Co-op, you will support our initiatives in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, enhancing recruitment efforts, and fostering employee engagement.
This unique role offers hands-on experience across multiple HR functions, allowing you to work with a dynamic, collaborative, and friendly HR team while contributing to the growth of a diverse and inclusive workforce!
Key Responsibilities:
Inclusion:
Assist with implementing diversity and inclusion strategies and initiatives.
Support the planning and execution of diversity-related events, workshops, and training programs.
Help track diversity metrics and analyze data to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
Partner with the DEI Leader to coordinate community engagement initiatives.
Recruitment:
Assist in drafting job descriptions and posting early-career job opportunities on various platforms.
Conduct initial resume screenings and support the interview process.
Coordinate and schedule interviews, follow up with candidates, and gather feedback from hiring managers.
Support the onboarding process by preparing offer letters, conducting background checks, and ensuring a smooth transition for new hires.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruitment records and documentation.
Represent Hill’s Pet Nutrition at career fairs, conferences, and other recruitment events, promoting the company as a top employer.
Employee Engagement:
Collaborate with the HR team to plan and execute employee engagement activities, such as team-building events, celebrations, and wellness programs.
Assist in gathering employee feedback through surveys and focus groups to identify areas for improvement and suggest initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction.
Support internal communication efforts by creating and distributing newsletters, announcements, and other relevant materials.
General HR Support:
Provide administrative assistance to the HR team, including data entry, file management, and maintaining HR databases.
Assist in the preparation of HR reports, presentations, and other documents as required.
Stay informed about HR best practices, industry trends, and relevant employment laws and regulations.
Experience and Qualifications:
Currently a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
Demonstrates continuous learning and provides valuable input.
Strong interest in HR, particularly in recruitment, employee engagement, and inclusion.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities with great attention to detail.
Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficient in using Google Workspace applications (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides).
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Compensation and Duration: This is a paid Co-op position for a 12-month period, preferably from January to January. The role requires 20 part-time hours during the school year and 40 full-time hours during the summer of 2025.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $20.00 - $24.50 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:
Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
