YRC Freight IT Infrastructure Internship Summer 2023 in Overland Park, Kansas
JOB SUMMARY
As an intern on the Infrastructure team at Yellow, you will work alongside seasoned IT professionals that will guide and support you in your internship. Our interns will gain experience in information security, server and end user hardware, voice/data networking and cloud computing while also gaining experience in the corporate business environment.
Projects within the Infrastructure team include, but are not limited to:
Information Security
Support the IT team in preparing simple to moderate platform engineering assignments
Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other cloud or on-premise environments
Troubleshoot to resolve infrastructure, network, and site/software related issues
Lend IT support in areas such as backups, monitoring, networking and server
Assists in the development of operational procedure and SLA documentation
Completes root-cause analysis based upon applicable trends and events
Verifies the proper execution of documented IT procedures
Lend support toward continuous process improvement/delivery of value via Enterprise Service Management
Collaborate with infrastructure engineers to implement solutions, resolve problems and perform technical reviews
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend team meetings and overviews to gain insight on company developments and structure.
Develop a deeper knowledge on troubleshooting network issues or other infrastructure issues.
Test and implement technology configuration.
Maintenance and monitoring of technical platforms and applications.
Assist in report preparation and analysis.
Participate on group projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Grade point average 2.75 or better.
Able to apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
Able to follow standard instructions, practices, and procedures in analyzing situations or data.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Currently enrolled and pursuing undergraduate (at least third year student) or graduate degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or like discipline.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of course work in computer science, information systems etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional in our office environment and remote work setting via Microsoft Teams. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
