The Position:

The Learning and Development Specialist is a member of the L&D Team and is one of the leadtrainers for the Senior Living Advisor (SLA) onboarding program. This individual is a skilled facilitator and coach, helping SLA new hires come up to speed and become productive as quickly as possible. As part of the SLA training team, they are responsible to ensure that SLA training content and methods remain up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with APFM business needs and selling best practices. This individual may also support training for corporate team members. The goal is to equip learners with the tools and resources to realize their full potential and be successful in their respective roles. This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Learning and Development.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

Lead effective and engaging virtual instructor-led training sessions as part of the SLA onboarding program. Including:

  • Effectively delivering all training modules and associated course work included in the SLA onboarding program.

  • Observing and providing effective coaching during rehearsals and throughout onboarding.

  • Observing and providing coaching during live advisor calls.

  • Collaborating with fellow L&D trainers throughout each onboarding program to ensure all new hires are on track and have the support they need to successfully complete the program.

  • Communicating with the hiring manager including keeping them informed in the event of a SLA needing additional support during the onboarding process.

  • Monitoring completion of all pre- and post-coursework assignments.

  • Working with the Senior L&D Specialist and L&D Coordinator on program management.

  • Working with the Senior L&D Specialist and Instructional Designer to ensure learning materials are current, in accordance with field sales procedures and selling best practices.

  • Monitoring training effectiveness through surveys and L&D reporting and making adjustments as needed to ensure training outcomes are met.

  • Working with the New Hire Training Specialist to deliver the Sales Development Series. Including:

  • Ensuring learning materials are current, in accordance with field sales procedures and selling best practices.

  • Tracking attendance and communicating with hiring managers in the event of a SLA needing additional support.

  • Working with the Instructional Designer and the L&D Team to develop and design new and enhanced course materials. Including:

  • Participating in updating and enhancing programs to ensure training objectives are met and the program remains up-to-date, accurate, compliant, aligned with selling best practices and relevant as APFM business needs evolve.

  • Following the established training schedule to deliver effective and engaging webinars and instructor-led training sessions.

  • Troubleshooting technology and assisting with problem solving.

  • Supporting the L&D department as one of the key stakeholders for the Learning Management System.

  • Staying current with APFM policies and procedures and the senior living/senior care industry.

  • Actively participating in L&D team meetings and material review sessions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Learning and Development, Business Communications, Healthcare Administration or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • 3-5 years training, experience or equivalent, preferably formal training.

  • Passion for learning and helping team members realize their full potential while working as a single supportive team.

  • Proactive educator and communicator – skilled in creating and maintaining an environment conducive to learning and development.

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills.

  • Experienced in conducting virtual training, presentations and/or meetings.

  • Communicates effectively – delivers clear, concise and compelling messages, including strong writing, proof reading, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in order to meet internal client demands.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and good follow through.

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google (Drive and Sites) product suites.
