Yellow, a nationwide Less Than Truckload (LTL) company that serves the US, Canada and Mexico, needs an IT Manager to provide leadership and implementation of 24x7 IT operations and support. This role prioritizes the needs for and serves the customers of all 4 major Operating Companies under the Yellow brand: Holland, New Penn, Reddaway and YRC Freight.

The IT Manager for In Cab Mobility and Disaster Recovery provides operational leadership and direction to deliver optimized services and support for assigned infrastructure functions, including:

  • Develop a roadmap to deliver and support In Cab Technology and systems management tools.

  • Ensure Operational availability of all devices meet SLAs as defined.

  • Drive and optimize Inventory strategy to ensure timely delivery and refresh requirements are met as needed.

  • Own In Cab device wireless contracts and provisioning

  • Own In Cab Field services efficiency and contracts

  • Develop a roadmap for IT Disaster Recovery

  • Own IT Disaster Recovery Planning and Execution

  • Drives strategy for Disaster Recovery Environments

  • Provides Backup and Recovery Oversite

  • Partners with Business Continuity team to establish Business Continuity Processes and Procedures

The Manager is accountable for leading teams that manage a portfolio of projects and services, including the implementation of new and ongoing maintenance of software, hardware and services. The IT Manager is responsible for the overall growth and development of 10-20 IT professionals and enhancing departmental execution capability and talent pipeline.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop & Drive Strategy (35%)

  1. Maintain current understanding of emerging technologies aligned to business needs

  2. Partner with key stakeholders to develop the infrastructure roadmap for areas of responsibility, identify and recommend new solutions to meet priority business needs

  3. Identify long and short-range projects/plans to drive improvements in areas of assigned responsibility; partner with IT leadership to align on key strategies and priorities

Deliver Reliable Solutions & Technology (20%)

  1. Drive lifecycle management of solutions from selection to implementation to currency upgrades and/or sunset/termination

  2. Drive projects and goals/objectives in a planful and organized manner, ensuing quality and timely delivery within approved budget

  3. Provide clear communication on approach, status, issues and risks on a regular basis to manage stakeholder expectations

  4. Develop relationships with key vendors and create cost-efficient and support development of comprehensive contracts that protect YRCW

Operational Support & Service Management (20%)

  1. 24X7 operation of IT services, designed to serve and protect 400 terminals and facility locations

  2. Provide resource alignment to deliver 24x7 production support, including on-call schedules and escalated support response

  3. Provide stable, available and operationally effective services and solutions

  4. Execute change implementation practices that reduce business risk and overall downtime

  5. Seek customer feedback regularly to ensure services and support are efficient and effective; surface and identify repeat problems or service challenges. Craft and drive improvement plans to close gaps

  6. Develop and drive improvements from operational and solution health metrics (service metrics including utilization, availability, costs, etc.)

Financial & Performance Management (25%)

  1. Drive the growth, development and overall performance improvement of the department

  2. Lead and grow a high-performance team by selecting high potential talent, training, coaching and providing developmental assignments.

  3. Participate in annual financial budgeting/planning processes.

  4. Manage actuals to budget and timely communication of budget exceptions and assist with development of plans to close gaps

  5. Human resource management including interviewing, hiring new employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; career development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field

  2. 5-10 years IT infrastructure engineering and support related experience; demonstrated leadership (team lead, project management, etc.)

  3. Experience with Mobile Technology and device management

  4. Experience with Disaster Recovery strategies and Best Practices to ensure timely RPO and RTO needs are met.

  5. Experience managing complex projects.

  6. Experience with cloud solutions and managed services

  7. Proven leadership experience in related fields, including Infrastructure and Solution Development

  8. Solution selection, design and implementation for large scale, complex environments

  9. Understanding of ITIL model or similar framework for IT service delivery

  10. IT vendor management experience

  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Specific technology certifications related to IT Disaster Recovery and Mobile Device Management

  2. Experience managing teams of 10-20 IT Resources

  3. ITIL Certification or experience with using it for IT Service Delivery

  4. Freight and Logistics industry experience

  5. MBA or advanced degree in related field

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
