JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall process, compliance and execution of all leaves and accommodation processes for the enterprise. This includes but is not limited to: Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), USERRA, and other federal, state, and local specific leave laws (paid and unpaid). Works in partnership with Corporate and Field Human Resources as well as leadership to facilitate overall compliance and efficient processes. Will also provide leadership for the coordination with internal departments regarding short-term and long-term disability, as well as coordinate with Workers’ Compensation as needed for escalated or particularly complex issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage the Enterprise Leave Management Team and processes associated with disability and protected leave management to adhere with state and federal requirements and labor agreement provisions to ensure policies are applied accurately and consistently across the organization.

  2. Serve as the subject matter expert for the team on FMLA, ADA and other pertinent laws and regulations, providing sound guidance and direction to the team on the most complex of leave and accommodation cases.

  3. Work closely and effectively with internal partners in Human Resources, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Worker’s Compensation, and other teams to ensure compliance and provide optimal service delivery while maintaining excellent customer service.

  4. Partner with other HR groups for consistent implementation on HR-related compliance and disability management policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with governmental and regulatory agency requirements. Partner with Labor to ensure processes are compliant with applicable contracts and assist Labor in grievance process as needed.

  5. Coach leaders and staff as to best practices related to providing reasonable accommodations under the ADA and protected leaves. Develop and provide training as needed to HR staff and leaders on changing or new regulations.

  6. Manage reasonable accommodation and leave process across the Company in a consistent, compliant manner. Manages complex policy exceptions and service issue escalations to root cause and resolution.

  7. Drive change management in rollout of new programs and ongoing continuous improvement in processes and procedures.

  8. Ensure all reporting and audit requirements are fulfilled.

  9. Work with HR partners, corporate counsel, outside legal counsel, and functional/operations leaders, as needed, to develop, manage and administer reasonable accommodations and leaves.

  10. Lead investigations of alleged abuse or fraudulent activity in partnership with Corporate Security.

  11. Participate in general human resource practices and activities within the HR function.

  12. Collect and analyze basic HR data, and then provide analysis to management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  2. Three (3) years’ experience years administering requests for accommodations, leaves of absence, and FMLA. Extensive working knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.

  3. Knowledge of EEO requirements and applicable employment laws.

  4. Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files. Perform all tasks with integrity and extreme confidentiality, handling confidential information with the highest level of discretion.

  5. Excellent customer service and communication skills with an ability to answer questions tactfully and diffuse difficult situations with employees and managers.

  6. Demonstrated organizational skills including ability to prioritize workload, balance conflicting priorities, and attention to detail.

  7. Demonstrating working knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

  8. Travel to meet business needs as required (approximately 10%).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. MBA or Master's degree in a related field.

  2. Experience with Oracle HR Software.

  3. Experience with KRONOS.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs. of supplies and materials is required.
