Robert Half Payroll Manager in Overland Park, Kansas
Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join our team based in Overland Park, Kansas. In this role, you will play a crucial part in processing and maintaining payroll transactions for multiple entities and employees. You will also mentor and coordinate payroll-related activities, while providing superior customer service to all employees. This role falls within the manufacturing industry and requires a high level of proficiency with various payroll management and process improvement skills.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the processing of multiple payroll cycles for all employees across different locations.
• Ensure accuracy in pay statements, reflecting proper pay for hours worked, sick hours, vacation hours, salary/rate changes, and other deductions.
• Maintain integrity in general ledger postings of all payroll-related activity and reconcile accounts monthly.
• Lead in the completion of all tax-related filings with federal, state, and local agencies.
• Manage the input of all employee tax withholding information and direct deposit bank account data.
• Oversee the accurate withholding of deductions for benefits, 401(k), and other deductions from employee paychecks.
• Oversee the maintenance of the internal payroll system and manage the installation and maintenance of upgrades to the system.
• Handle payroll data flow coordination with the HR Information Systems group and third-party administrators.
• Investigate inquiries from outside agencies as needed.
• Ensure proper tracking of non-working hours (paid time off, vacation, floating holidays, etc.) in the payroll system.
Skills:
• Proficiency in using UKG Pro
• Experience with Canadian Payroll
• Familiarity with Multi-state Payroll
• Experience with Payroll - Union
• Strong Payroll Management skills
• Proven ability in Process Improvement
Requirements
• Must hold a minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll management
• Proficiency in UKG Pro is preferred
• Demonstrated experience in Canadian payroll is essential
• Expertise in multi-state payroll is necessary
• Experience with payroll in union environments is required
• Proven skills in payroll management are essential
• Must possess strong process improvement skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
• Strong organizational and time management skills are needed
• Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is necessary
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field is preferred
• Relevant certification, such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), is a plus.
