Primary Location : US-KS-Overland Park

Shift : Day


Responsible to drive recruitment philosophies, strategies, processes and sourcing supplies that deliver high quality candidates effectively to the organization ensuring a pipeline of drivers, mechanics, office specialist, dock workers, and other union positions for current and future demands. The position will by engage all key stakeholders throughout the recruitment lifecycle in order to execute the most effective recruiting strategy and drive candidate flow for drivers, mechanics, office specialist, and dock workers. The role will be primarily focused on recruitment in Canada but other areas could be assigned if needed.


  1. Conduct day-to-day union recruiting activities and follow recruiting processes for an assigned region, acting as a resource on all points of the recruitment cycle.

  2. Creatively source and develop a pool of qualified driver and mechanic applicants through the use of traditional and non-traditional techniques including social media channels, cold-calling/direct sourcing, networking, job fairs, employment agencies, internet searches, postings, etc.

  3. Build internal and external relationships and attract the best talent possible.

  4. Participate in and contribute to driver and other union positions recruitment initiatives and communicate proactively and consistently with business partners.

  5. Participate in projects that are related to recruiting best practices as well as Company initiatives.

  6. Utilize various social media methods to deliver and drive candidate traffic to the YRC Freight career site.

  1. Five (5) years’ experience in sourcing, recruiting, interviewing, and employee retention.

  2. Familiarity with technology or business specific terminology.

  3. Proven success in using creative sourcing techniques to produce diverse, quality, candidate pools.

  4. Solid knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to recruitment.

  5. Fluent in French


  1. Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  2. Minimum three (3) years of recruiting experience with full life cycle recruiting in a high volume, corporate environment.

  3. Experience in recruiting for driver positions.

  4. Experience in recruiting for mechanic positions.

  5. Experience working in a union environment strongly preferred.

  6. Knowledge of DOT, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act regulations.

  7. Effective communication, teamwork and influencing skills.

  8. Demonstrated experience with applicant tracking systems, preferably iCIMS.

  9. Demonstrated proficiency in internet sourcing skills. Knowledge of and ability to conduct cold calls, research based sourcing and internet and web-based recruiting.

  10. Ability to travel.


This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.


The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
