Altasciences is hiring a PRN Safety Officer for their Overland Park campus.Altasciences Clinical Research, encompassing Algorithme Pharma, Vince & Associates Clinical Research and Algorithme Pharma USA, is one of the largest early phase clinical research organizations (CROs) in North America. As a leading, full-service CRO, we have extensive expertise in the execution of a wide range of Phase I/II clinical studies, especially complex trials in healthy normal volunteers and patient populations.The Safety Officer will ensure that adequate safety procedures and training are implemented and maintained as needed and are in compliance with OSHA regulations. Responsibilities:* Observe and monitor each in-patient volunteer for safety concerns and intervene when necessary by performing daily health assessmentsAdminister investigational medications to in-patient volunteers (orally or via IV catheter)Ensure that all crash carts in each building are up to date and inspected monthly by maintaining detailed lists (current and historical) of crash cart medications and their expiration datesPerform monthly inspections of glucometers and AED devices as well as monthly emergency drillsPrimary staff to perform data acquisition in Phase I clinical trials, through the following methods:Telemetry monitoringPhlebotomy, direct venipuncture or from IV catheterUrine CollectionVital SignsEKGWeight, height and BMIDocument the performance of procedures in real time as they happenEducation and training of current research regulations, protocols, and work instructionsDaily maintenance of the clinic including supplies ordered and stocked, antiseptic cleaning, and organization of the clinical unitQualifications:* NREMT-P Certification from an accredited institution1 + year in health care where documentation was requiredBasic Life Support CertificationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support CertificationClinical Research experience, preferredAbility to interface with busy clinicians and nurses to identify eligible participants and perform study dutiesAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin, and protected veteran status, or disability status.
