Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Accountant specializing in lease accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for recording journal entries, reconciling complex ledger accounts, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. This role requires an understanding of business drivers and their impact on financial results to ensure accurate reflection in financial statements, analysis, and communication. You will also ensure accounting records, monthly accounting close activities, and variance analyses are adequately prepared, maintained, and explained in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Record journal entries and reconcile complex ledger accounts.
Identify opportunities for process improvement.
Understand business drivers and their effect on financial results.
Ensure accounting records, monthly close activities, and variance analyses are properly prepared and maintained.
Manage large volumes of transactional level data.
Review work submitted by Accountants and provide functional advice, guidance, and training.
Resolve issues using accounting concepts, experience, analytical skills, and industry knowledge.
Establish and maintain accounting control procedures.
Produce accurate and timely ad-hoc reporting from multiple data sources.
Validate and interpret results, summarizing in a meaningful format.
Participate in cross-departmental projects and articulate Accounting guidelines in support of business changes.
Identify, document, and communicate the impact of new programs or system changes on existing accounting processes.
Perform other duties or projects as assigned by business management.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.
Must have Lease accounting and ASC 842 experience.
2+ years of experience in public accounting or large private accounting.
Experience with general ledger, reconciliation, month-end close, and financial statements.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant preferred.
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle.
Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables, sum if, and v-lookup.
Understanding of large-scale data mining and reporting tools like PowerBI, SQL, and Alteryx.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
4-7 years of working experience.
Experience in communications, technology, or retail industry.
Strong understanding of accounting theory, current accounting issues, and internal controls.
Ability to make fact-based decisions and recommendations.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
Adaptability in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
Effective collaboration and communication with all levels of the organization and cross-functional business partners.
Process improvement and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
This role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring 3 days in the office. The accounting team is centralized in one building on a campus that includes multiple amenities such as a full gym, locker room, cafeteria with free lunch every day, ping pong tables, putting greens, and foosball tables. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
