Honeywell Senior Accounting Specialist in Overland Park, Kansas

In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. This position will be in Kansas City, MO

Summary of Duties:

  • Performs Accounts Payable accounting services, including invoice processing, reviewing invoice accuracy and driving timely payments, monitoring Accounts Payable Outlook inbox and providing timely responses to vendors and internal stakeholders

  • Prepares journal entries and reconciles account balances with appropriate records

  • Conducts special investigations and compiles accounting data for specific activities

  • Coordinates or performs the accumulation, analysis, and distribution of accounting data

  • Coordinates accounting methods and recommends/implements improvement in departmental procedures

  • Performs liaison activities with accounting management, internal and external customers

  • Investigates problems and implements corrective action

  • Reviews and analyzes accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and DOE orders

  • Assists in training personnel in various accounting routines and procedures

  • Analyzes financial system output and initiates corrections as required

  • Performs, reviews, and analyzes a variety of financial-related calculations

  • May perform other duties as required

  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to """"stop"""" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.     You Must Have:

  • BS Degree with minimum 5 years of exp or 2 years of additional relevant experience is required

  • BS degree in accounting preferred

    We Value:

  • Additional college courses in accounting or 4 1/2 years in a lower level accounting position is also preferred

  • Knowledge of general accounting methods and practices normally acquired through a degree in accounting or equivalent formal education and experience

  • Proficiency in computer software; ability to quickly analyze complex financial information and initiate/recommend appropriate actions

  • Ability to effectively operate in a high transaction volume environment to support the accuracy and timeliness of invoice processing

  • Good written and oral communication skills as this position regularly interacts with internal and external customers

  • Ability to effectively work individually and in a team environment
