TEKsystems Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer in Overland Park, Kansas

Description:

We are seeking a skilled Azure Cloud Engineer for a 12-month contract with the potential for full-time employment with one of our top clients. The ideal candidate will be located in the Kansas City area and work from our client's building. This position will focus on providing cloud operations, support, and guidance for our client's Azure environment.

As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you will collaborate with application teams to ensure the smooth implementation of workloads in the Azure Government cloud environment. You will also work with other IT teams to design and implement ITIL services that support this new environment.

The following build, operate and support activities encompass the role:

Design Guidance – Collaborate with application architects to provide solution design guidance around Azure resources, following infrastructure design principles defined in our client's cloud architecture framework. Collaborate with teams implementing ITIL services to ensure proper integration with cloud infrastructure services.

Provision Infrastructure - Develop and run code for setting up Azure resources in accordance with the established Infrastructure as Code (IaC) framework while ensuring consistent state management. Write reusable modules for Azure resource deployment, leveraging the IaC toolset.

Automation – Code utilities (runbooks, logic apps, functions, PowerShell scripts, etc.) to support infrastructure operations.

Processes – Define and implement processes necessary to maintain and support cloud infrastructure services. Examples include virtual machine operating system security patch management, virtual desktop image management, privileged identity management, policy exception handling and monitoring/alerting.

Governance – Implement capabilities (policy, reports, alerts, metrics, RBAC, etc.) to manage cost, secure workloads and ensure compliance with any organizational or CMMC requirements.

Security Posture Management – Remediate vulnerabilities identified in Microsoft Defender for Cloud to maintain secure score target and regulatory compliance (NIST SP 800 171).

Maintenance Activities – Complete recurring maintenance tasks to ensure reliability of cloud infrastructure services.

Reactive Support – Perform break/fix support for cloud core infrastructure and shared services. Complete service requests related cloud infrastructure administration.

Platform Support Escalation – Engage Microsoft support as necessary for platform service issues

Key responsibilities of this role include:

• Providing infrastructure operations and support during the transition

• Overseeing cloud operations and designing infrastructure for new workloads

• Continuously improving and maturing cloud services

• Strong understanding of network security principles and experience implementing network security controls within Azure environments, including firewall configurations, network segmentation, and secure connectivity options

• Experience configuring centralized logging and monitoring solutions, including Azure Monitor and Azure Sentinel, to provide visibility into the Azure environment, facilitate real-time monitoring, and enable threat detection and response

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and best practices, particularly in the context of Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure deployment and management

• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues within Azure environments, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security

• Excellent documentation skills with the ability to clearly document architecture designs, implementation plans, and operational procedures

• Experience with Windows Server operating system administration

• Experience with Active Directory and related directory services

• Familiarity with ITIL and service management best practices and leading platforms (such as ServiceNow)

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technology solutions

• Demonstrates knowledge of technology project risks and strategies for managing and mitigating them

• Demonstrates strong written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to all audiences, ranging from non-technical people to executive-level technical decision-makers

• Passionate about technology and eager to grow skills and increase responsibilities

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Information Technology related degree

The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to work independently while also collaborating with cross-functional teams
