This position will be located in Kansas City, MO

Summary of Duties:

  • Performs project planning and manages project resources, including multiple individuals and disciplines, to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives

  • Conducts research and development experiments to resolve complex engineering and quality problems involving highly technical and scientific methods

  • Writes technical reports on results and conclusions drawn from experiments conducted and incorporates findings in formal specifications

  • Estimates set-up times, flowtimes, costs of production and acceptance equipment, and compiles cost estimates and delivery quotations, monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review

  • Participates in establishing operating procedures on new products and components

  • Defines and recommends new designs, design changes, and alternate designs of instruments, and test equipment, and orders tooling, gaging, and equipment necessary to assure product quality

  • Plans and performs engineering testing and development programs and uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve critical engineering and production problems to assure product manufacturability/inspect ability

  • Originates, refines, and releases complex manufacturing or inspection work directions

  • Determines acceptability of processes and materials in conjunction with design agency and other affected organizations

  • Interacts with design agency and/or supplier counterparts to resolve moderate to complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues

  • Based on research, applies, develops, and recommends innovative methodologies and technologies which are equal to the industry's state of the art to resolve processing, inspection and design problems

  • Provides technical consultation to management and others, and leads technical project teams

  • Leads, trains and mentors Engineer I and Engineer II on various processes and procedures

    You Must Have:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) from an ABET Accredited institution

  • US citizenship in order to obtain US Dept. of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance

  • Six (6) or more years of progressive, applied experience in engineering of products or processes or comparable technical activities, including application of advanced engineering principles and technology related to highly complex assignment

    We Value:

  • Ability to apply advanced design, development, evaluation, production, and quality control techniques to highly complex Mechanical Engineering concepts and projects

  • Demonstrated technical innovation and problem solving

  • Significant experience in a manufacturing or design environment

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work without supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making

  • Ability to provide technical guidance, project management, consultative services, and innovative solutions

  • Existing DOE Q clearance

  • Demonstrated working without supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making

  • Demonstrated providing technical guidance, project management guidance, consultative services, and innovative solutions

  • Demonstrated experience in project leadership
