Honeywell Sr Supplier Development Engineer in Overland Park, Kansas

In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. This position will be in Kansas City, MO

Summary of Duties:

  • Supplier Development engineer, work on site at suppliers to improve supplier performance and develop new processes

  • Work with Product and Quality Engineers, Purchasing, Source Inspection, and Strategic Sourcing to meet production and development commitments

  • Provides leadership, guidance and technical direction in development, qualification, and steady-state production efforts of various purchased components and assemblies for current, emerging and legacy programs at the Kansas City National Security Campus

  • Pro-active in identifying potential complications and resolutions, with regard to product, supplier base and strategic departmental initiatives

  • Develops risk mitigation strategies as a result of the requirements matrix and the available resources within the business

  • Supports management in creating strategies to successfully align the interconnect suppliers for future programmatic needs

  • Actively manages the supply base and fosters positive relationships with suppliers

  • Responsible for supplier performance and improvement opportunities to ensure timely and quality delivery

  • Regularly assess supply base capacity and addresses sourcing risks through identification and on-boarding of new suppliers and development of existing supplier capabilities

  • Interacts with design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues

  • Assists in the preparation of product or project definitions, manufacturing drawings and specifications, and test equipment designs

  • Identifies and executes continuous improvement opportunities and defect preventions throughout the life cycle of the product

  • Negotiates budget and schedule changes

  • Uses business knowledge to evaluate and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors

  • Willingness to travel up to 80%

    You Must Have:

  • US citizenship in order to obtain US Dept. of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program

  • 6 or more years of applied progressive experience in Engineering including application of advanced Mechanical engineering principles and technology related to highly complex technical assignments

  • Ability to work without supervision, to provide technical consultation, guidance and to mentor other employees

  • Ability to travel and work remotely at suppliers up to 80% of the time

  • Advanced Engineering or Business Degree

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of KCNSC and Purchased Product Engineering

  • Demonstrated knowledge of interconnects and interconnect designs

  • Experience on-boarding new suppliers to the supply base

  • Experience with Design Agency interface, cooperation, and influence

  • Understanding of component Design for Manufacturing & Assembly

  • High tolerance for ambiguity and change

  • Ability to lead projects successfully from development through production.

  • Ability to onboard new team members and provide ongoing mentoring and coaching

  • Demonstrated track record of making and keeping commitments

  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities

  • Experience with creating work directions and product tracking
