Description/Job Summary HydroGeoLogic, Inc. (HGL) has a position open for a Staff Engineer *in the Kansas City area to support HGL's growing business. HGL is a leader in the environmental remediation industry, with over 30 years of experience providing comprehensive engineering and design services by implementing innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that address environmental, infrastructure, and natural resource management challenges. HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to EPA, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Air Force (AF), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and other clients. HGL offers a dynamic work environment for creative, energetic professionals. *Responsibilities/Duties The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution and evaluation of environmental remediation and/or construction field tasks and related office work, including work plan and report preparation, remedial design support, and report preparation. Assigned tasks may also include the following: design calculations, data collection and environmental sampling, data analysis, conceptual site model development, design drawings and specifications development, report preparation, cost estimation, construction oversight, interpretation of environmental regulations, and oversight of map and drawing development. Required Skills Must demonstrate a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation, and creativity. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail. Must also be willing to participate in all project tasks including but not limited to field work, data analysis, design details, and report preparation. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications. Preferred Skills Proficiency in MS Project, MS PowerPoint, and AutoCAD Civil are a plus. Required Experience Five or more years of directly related work experience in addition to education is required. Must have experience in environmental remediation, authoring technical reports, and reviewing and interpreting environmental data. Preferred Experience Experience with the following is highly desirable: * RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DoE, or USEPA projects; * Contaminated soil remedial technologies including excavation and disposal, engineered caps, slurry/sheet pile walls, and/or in-situ stabilization/solidification; * contaminated groundwater remedial technologies including in situ treatment via chemical oxidation, enhanced reductive dichlorination, bioremediation, and thermal treatment, and ex situ treatment technologies such as granular activated carbon, air stripping, UV/oxidation, and bioremediation; * developing technical drawings, details, and specifications for mechanical and civil components of environmental construction projects; * remedial system process design support, implementation, and operation; * performance of field activities; * field quality assurance testing and monitoring to ensure conformance to specifications and safety standards; * experience with environmental site operations; * environmental sampling; and * oversight of environmental field activities or environmental construction projects. Required Education The Staff Engineer position requires a minimum of a BS degree in an engineering discipline such as Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. A PE is required. Preferred Education A MS degree or higher is considered a plus but is not required. Required Qualifications To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and able to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes. The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment. Travel, overtime, and moderate physical work are routinely required. Details A prehire drug test is required and positions may require a fit for duty baseline physical. Some positions require US Citizenship.
