Description/Job Summary HydroGeoLogic, Inc. (HGL) has a position open for a Staff Scientist *in the Kansas City area to support HGL's growing business associated with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Remedial Action Framework (RAF) contracts. HGL is one of the few companies that remain committed to research and development, offering a dynamic work environment for creative, energetic professionals. *Responsibilities/Duties The Staff Scientist will be responsible for directing environmental investigations, document preparation, and remediation construction under the direction of the project managers and senior staff members. The position will also require the Staff Scientist to assist with the developing maps and drawings, collecting general field data, and completing environmental sampling, and performing data entry and analysis. Required Skills * Environmental field investigation experience and report writing skills, with a goal of learning/expanding their role and taking on more responsibilities * Must demonstrate a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation and creativity. * Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail. * Must also be willing to participate in all project tasks including but not limited to field work, data analysis and report preparation * Proficient in MS Word, Excel and other MS Office applications Required Experience * 4+ years of related work experience * Must have experience in environmental investigations, authoring technical reports, and reviewing and interpreting environmental data. * Experience as a Task Manager or Field Team Leader for environmental investigations * Performance and oversight of field activities * Experience with environmental site operations * Monitoring well drilling, logging, installation and sampling * Knowledge of and experience with RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DoE, or USEPA Projects Required Education BA/BS degree in a field related to Environmental Studies such as Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, Biology or Chemistry. A MS degree is considered a plus but is not required. Required Qualifications To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes. The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment. Travel, overtime and moderate physical work are routinely required.
