Job Title: Survey Party Chief
Job Description
An established engineering firm is seeking to hire a talented Survey Party Chief with at least 3 years of experience. The role involves conducting topographic, property boundary, and construction surveys for municipal, DOT, and federal clients. This position requires a blend of field and office work, primarily working on projects across Kansas and parts of Missouri.
Pay is depending on experience $30/hr - $36/hr
Responsibilities
Conduct topographic, property boundary, and construction surveys for municipal, DOT, and federal clients.
Follow instructions from the survey leader to learn and improve.
Read and interpret documents such as deeds and plans.
Maintain equipment and vehicles.
Collaborate with team members and assist with field checks.
Teach and mentor other team members on survey techniques.
Use survey tools and software to perform surveys.
Verify that field conditions match drawings.
Avoid measurement errors.
Enter field data and create maps using calculators or software.
Complete administrative tasks like time and mileage sheets.
Follow safety procedures, especially around traffic and railroads.
Be dependable, organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.
Be a self-starter.
Essential Skills
Surveying experience, including topographic and property boundary surveys.
Proficiency with survey tools and software.
Ability to read and interpret deeds and plans.
Experience maintaining equipment and vehicles.
Skill in teaching and mentoring other team members.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma, with some college preferred.
Willingness to work towards licensure as a professional Land Surveyor.
3 years’ experience as a survey crew chief.
Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily field-based, with 90% of the time spent in the field and 10% in the office. The firm provides all necessary tools, equipment, and clothing. Employees receive a company cell phone and credit card for field expenses. Travel is required, with projects lasting from a few days to several months. The company covers all travel, lodging, and food expenses. The survey team participates in conferences and events organized by professional surveyor societies in Kansas and Missouri. All travel arrangements are handled by the manager.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $74880.00/yr.
