This position is under the supervision of the Chief Fleet Mechanic. Person in this position performs skilled work in the maintenance of automotive, light and heavy duty equipment and use of power tools.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of one (1) years experience as a service mechanic including basic hand tool and air operated equipment. Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent required; supplemented by course work or vocational training in auto and equipment mechanics, and completion of an approved apprenticeship program. License/Certification: Valid Kansas Class B commercial drivers license
Special Requirements
Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to perform heavy physical work and be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds occasionally. Must be able to stand, walk, climb on equipment, bend, twist, kneel and perform similar body movements. Hand/eye coordination adequate to operate equipment and shop tools. Frequent repetitive motion and grasping, holding, and reaching. Ability to speak clearly and hear in person, phone or other communication devices. Ability to hear equipment as a means of diagnosing malfunctions. Ability to see and read adequately for operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, reading manuals and charts, logging and maintaining records, reading and preparation of documents.
