CNC Waterjet Operator - 2 Axis

Job Description

This position requires a 3-3-1 schedule of either B Team or C Team Schedule. Shift and training schedule will be determined upon offer. Once training is completed, employee will go to offered shift if different than training schedule.

(Team B Schedule 6:00pm-6:30am) which includes:

Week 1: 3 days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)

Week 2: 4 days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other Sunday)*

(Team C Schedule 6:00am-6:30pm) which includes:

Week 1: 3 days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)*

Week 2: 4 days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Sunday)*

*Hours/schedule may be modified due to Company need.

Includes: 80 Hours of Holiday Pay per year, 80 Hours of Vacation accumulating bi-weekly per year, 40 Hours Sick accumulating bi-weekly per year.

Job Summary & Essential Functions: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Sets up and operates 2 axis computer-numerical control (CNC) machine to cut and fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

•Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

•Measures sheet size of material; compares material identification number on work order to material markings and to material computer nest to ensure the proper material is being cut.

•Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine.

•Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and feed

•Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

•Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

•Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.

•Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems

•Ensure all required preventive maintenance is completed on waterjet machines and crane.

•Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

•Performs other duties and assignments as directed.

•Basic computer knowledge and skills

•Ability to operate a forklift

•Ability to operate a hoist

•Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and scales

•Read and understand internal procedures and policies.

•Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions

•Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

•High school diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

•Math skills: decimals, percentages, fractions

•Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars

•Basic computer knowledge and skills

•Prior CNC operator experience is helpful

•Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

•Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms

•Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch

•Must be able to communicate effectively

•Must be able to frequently lift from 1 – 50 pounds

•Annual baseline hearing test is required

•Working conditions are: 100% manufacturing environment.

•Noise level is usually loud.

•Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts.

•Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and airborne particles.

•Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.

•Hearing protection is required.

•Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
