Job Description for Manager

Reports To: Operational Manager/Owner

Position Summary:

Performs and directs overall store management. Responsible for inventory and money control system. Directs and coaches staff to ensure that food safety, product preparation, and cleanliness standards are maintained. Maintains standards of restaurant safety and security. Recruits staff and oversees training program. Contacts prospective customers to promote sales. Maintains established inventory schedules. Responsible for local marketing initiatives. Maintains business records. Exceptional customer service is a major component of this position.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Completes and posts the staff work schedules.
  • Maintains business records as outlined in the Subway Operations Manual. Analyzes business records to increase sales.
  • Communicates changes of food preparations formulas, standards, etc. to staff.
  • Supports local and national marketing initiatives.
  • Ensures that all local and national health and food safety codes are maintained, and company safety and security policy are followed.
  • Recruits, oversees training, rewards and terminates staff as needed.
  • Identifies and contacts prospective customers to promote sales.
  • Plans special events and promotions.
  • Excellent organization and cleanliness efforts in the restaurant.
  • Understands all weekly managerial requirements and to complete these in a timely manner.
  • Attain full understanding of inventory, food ordering, WISR and control sheet.
  • Ensures store is always open for assigned store hours.
  • Completes online coursework on the University of Subway as directed.

Prerequisites

Experience: Capable of performs all duties outlined in tasks and responsibilities. Shows potential of being a leader in overseeing all aspects of restaurant and staff. Shows potential in training new team members. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical: Must be able to work any area of the restaurant when needed and to operate a computerized Point of Sales system/cash register. Position requires bending, standing and walking the entire workday. Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally. Must have the ability to work a minimum of 30-40 hours a week.
