JOB TITLE: MECHANIC

Job Summary:
The Mechanic for RFB Construction Company, Inc. will be responsible for maintaining the equipment in the fleet while ensuring all safety requirements are met. This includes repair and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary to ensure proper operating condition.
A pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check is required of all successful candidates.
Essential Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual is to adhere to all local, state, OSHA, MSHA and environmental regulations as outlined in the Employee Safe Work Guidelines, Safety Rules sign-off sheet and any/all information provided by RFB.
Performs repairs and routine preventive maintenance
Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment
Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards
Maintains a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area
Responsible for taking care of company employees and assets
Must be organized
Must be comfortable asking questions, rather than doing work over because you did not ask.
Must be on time and prepared every day
Always act professionally. You represent the company with your actions, personality, and the work you do.
Keep shop organized and clean.
When parts of supplies are needed, price shop to find the best deal and get approval from the Director of Operations.
Keep and inventory keys on key rack.
Keep up on DOT inspections.
Make sure IFTA stickers (if applicable) insurance and registration are in all vehicles.
Make sure all first aid kits, triangles, fire extinguishers, etc. are in all vehicles.
Manage toolroom and check out small tools as needed.
If you are going to be absent from work, shop keys need to be left on key rackthey could be needed by someone else during your absence.
Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel repair and maintenance.
Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods and practices of engine repair, mechanical and electrical systems, and maintenance.
Working knowledge of safe equipment practices
Education/certifications are a plus.
Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner
Competency using various computer systems to record and document repairs and diagnose problems
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Mechanic
Valid driver\'s license- CDL preferred, but not required
Basic computer & mathematical skills
Must be able to Lift 70 pounds safely

Visual ability to determine which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
While performing the duties of this job, the employe is frequently required to walk and stand on uneven surfaces.
The employee may be required to frequently lift up to 50lbs, along with climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and grasping.
Work Environment/Conditions:
Frequent work outside in extreme environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and wet temperatures.
