The primary function of the Maintenance and Repair Worker is to perform general maintenance and repair tasks in assigned areas. Positions assigned to the job may also assistant custodial staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

85% -

Performs maintenance and facilities custodial responsibilities. Follows an established inspection routine in an assigned group of facilities for needed maintenance, custodial services and repairs in various trades to include mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

Operates power hand tools and electrical instruments. Repairs and/or replaces 277/120 volt switches, receptacles, ballasts, light bulbs, exit lights and indoor/outdoor lighting, maintains controlled lighting and light fixtures. Maintains adequate supply of tools, parts, and supplies. Orders inventory for part and supplies. Record and update equipment information to Physical Plant.

Mounts and repairs towel dispensers, soap dispenser, and tissue holders, replace ceiling tiles, general window maintenance. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on custodial equipment, vacuum sweepers, wet and dry vacuums, buffers, all auto ride on manual scrubber. Performs cleaning and/or maintenance at football stadium and chapel.

Inspect safety equipment, devices, and fire extinguisher, ensure use of all safety equipment, lock out/tag out system, implements and performs scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment. Notification of any equipment shut downs to Maintenance Supervisor or Power Plant Department.

Respond to after hour emergency calls, overtime hours as required.

Assist with other maintenance areas and in other work areas as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director.

Assist with increment weather issues, communicate and report maintenance issues as required for efficient and safe resolution, directs and supervises assigned employees, performs related and unrelated tasks assigned by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director.

10% -

Operates all industrial lifts, light automotive equipment, motorized equipment, pickup trucks, forklifts, automobiles and blowers, loads and unloads and delivers supplies to all buildings, travels to other locations to transport equipment and materials.

Operates two- and three-ton bucket trucks.

5% -

Set up and take down equipment as assigned for special events in buildings or outdoor areas to include chairs, tables, platforms, signage, decorations, floor coverings, participate in take down and clean up after events, unlock and lock buildings, turn on/off lights as needed, check for emergency repairs or maintenance and report to proper trade services.

Performs varied cleaning task as assigned.
