Accounting Assistant


Full-Time Accounting Assistant


The role of the Accounting Assistant is to perform tasks in areas, including but not limited to accounts payable, client, grant and contract billings, researching/resolving outstanding billings and accounts receivable, preparing, and posting journal entries to the appropriate general ledger accounts, prepare account reviews and reconciliations.


Position Overview:


+ Submits child welfare and client billings with all required data using funder-specific formats in a timely manner


+ Apply cash receipts, checks or ACH of client payments when received


+ Manages and maintains the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of billing according to specific contractual terms


+ Requires a working knowledge of managed care, commercial insurance and Medicaid billings, and the ability to interpret explanation of benefit reports


+ Receives, reviews, researches and responds to correspondence, from the block grant or Medicaid managed care organizations, insurance companies, and patients


+ Monitors claims through an electronic claims processing system


+ Develops and implements proper financial recordkeeping and gathers the appropriate documentation to support all expenditures for a contract or grant agreement (payroll reports, invoices, G/L printouts, etc.)


+ Performs monthly analysis of program or grant activities in comparison to funder-approved budget


+ Prepares and submits the contract billing report or invoice based on funding source guidelines ensuring accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department and funding source


+ Assists Accounting Specialist by preparing invoices for payment including matching invoices to receipts, and ensuring appropriate coding of business unit and account and uploading supporting documents


+ Performs Care Logic administrative functions such as claim reversals, authorization overrides, claim adjustments and claim write-offs


Requirements Include:


+ Requires a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED)


+ Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and other online or web-based client or accounting software systems


+ Requires at least two years of relevant job experience


+ Must show an understanding of basic accounting principles and general office applications


+ A valid driver's license with a good driving record


+ Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening
