Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D0718000 and is part of the KS Surface Maintenance Manager, National Guard. Responsibilities As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-2604-11, you will plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work. Determine training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsel employees on problems. Adjust informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives. Take informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Works to achieve the objectives of Government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relations. Promote the participation of subordinates in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Ensure that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment being utilized. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 4/10's compressed work schedule with four 10-hour days, Tuesday-Friday each week of the pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: WO1 through CW3 Compatible Military Assignments: immaterial GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have skill in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems to recognize the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot the system from the schematic, following signal paths through a complex path of interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable harnesses. They have skill to modify systems by adding, altering, or removing components in order to standardize or alter the purpose of the equipment or to incorporate new features developed since the equipment was manufactured. Must have the ability to lead and supervise subordinates. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
