Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION), Position Description Number T57419000 and is part of the KS 235th Regiment, National Guard. Responsibilities As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-09, you will Serve as a systems administrator for the less complex systems involving a limited number of servers operating on a single operating system. Responsible for implementing and troubleshooting system performance. Report unresolved problems to a higher-graded System Administrator. Assist other system administrators in troubleshooting problems and implementing changes on the more complex systems. Modifiy, test and implement system backup and recovery strategies for assigned system. Diagnose system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs. Modify code, devises temporary fixes, documents problems and advises high higher-level System Administrator or other outside party. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GENERAL EXPERINECE: Must have experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level. Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. "Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C188.8.131.52 or C184.108.40.206. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position." ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Physical Demands: Work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Working Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required. Education Basic Requirements This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education OR the General & Specialized requirements specified above. At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
