We are hiring a Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift in Salina KS. The Maintenance Supervisor provides technical, process and people leadership for assigned shift or platform and directs reactive, corrective, and planned maintenance activities in coordination with the site strategy. This role is a key leader in the utilization of the Asset Optimization elements, specifically Planning and Scheduling, Defect Elimination, and Breakdown Elimination. The Supervisor assists the Maintenance Leadership team to identify and eliminate top losses across the site. The Maintenance Supervisor has accountability for production throughput, downtime, OEE, and cost attainment on their assigned shift in partnership with Production Supervision.

    Responsibilities:

  • Ensures team maintains a safe work environment to eliminate human safety and food safety risk.

  • Ensures all company, state, and federal requirements for human and food safety are met by maintenance employees, contractors, and vendors.

  • Improves organization and effectiveness of physical workspaces through Shop Tools and Facilities system (Shop safety, 5S, precision tools, etc.)

  • Supervises daily work assignments including reactive, corrective, planned and condition-based maintenance in coordination with Maintenance Planner/Scheduler. Prioritizes and assigns resources based on shifting production and schedule demands.

  • Actively participates in the site DMS meetings with reporting ownership for maintenance metrics.

  • Weekly tracking and reporting of maintenance KPI’s for team: PM and Corrective Completion, Backlog, WO aging, Mean Time to Complete, Breakdowns, Defects, etc.

  • Provides technical leadership in the development and utilization of Clean-Inspect-Lubricate and Centerlines.

  • Ensures equipment is maintained at basic condition through coaching Defect Elimination.

  • Provides leadership in troubleshooting and problem-solving breakdowns and reliability losses with cross-functional team. Drives failures to root cause using Breakdown Elimination processes.

  • Responsible for cost management and budget compliance in partnership with site Maintenance Leadership team.

  • Participates in equipment maintenance strategy improvement using inputs from maintenance team, breakdown elimination findings, defect trends, and equipment condition monitoring.

  • Supervises equipment repair and rebuilds during scheduled outages.

  • Teaches, coaches, and develops maintenance team members in areas of technical, leadership, and process utilization.

  • Performs work quality audits to ensure compliance to expectations.

  • Ensures teams leverage SAP PM (or applicable CMMS) for maintenance activities. Ensures compliance to CMMS data integrity standards.

  • Identifies and resolves issues regarding spare part availability.

  • Provides regular communication to direct team, site leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Lead and direct contractor and vendor work execution.

  • Leads performance management cycle for employees, including objective setting, development, performance reviews, discipline, rewards, and recognition.

  • Leads wage interviewing, staffing, and onboarding of new employees on-shift.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Minimum of three years related experience.

  • Must have knowledge and skills in the technologies of general construction, electrical systems, electronic systems, microprocessors, mechanical systems (e.g., production/process, refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, hydraulics, and pneumatics), and computerized maintenance management systems.

  • Working knowledge of food plant production and processing equipment preferred.

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety, EPA regulations, USDA and sanitation standards preferred.

  • Must have previous supervisor experience.

  • Basic PC skills including expertise with MS Office and Outlook.

  • SAP experience beneficial.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have basic mathematical and problem solving skills in order to generate and maintain departmental reports.

  • May be required to be clean shaven if trained in the use of and required to use a respirator.

  • Must be capable and willing to work any shift and be on 24 hour call for emergency situations as necessary.
