Schedule: Part-Time, Days
Shift :
7am-5:30pm with 30 min lunch-one shift per week
8am-4:30pm with 30 min lunch on Tuesday/Thursday-one shift per week
Two shifts total, opportunity to pick up more shifts as needed

The role you’ll contribute:
The Exercise Specialist provides direct patient care and guidance to patients and families with cardiovascular and pulmonary disease. The Exercise Specialist assists with the monitoring of patients, instructs patients on proper use of the exercise equipment, and adjusts exercise prescriptions as indicated and assesses the patient’s response to exercise. They also will provide education/support of lifestyle modifications.

· Must possess comprehensive understanding of cardiovascular and pulmonary disease
Assists in the development and implementation of the exercise prescription, assesses patient’s physiological response to exercise, and makes necessary adjustments
Assists in the development of the individualized treatment plan with collaborative patient goals
Reviews patient’s progress regularly; reassess and adjust the treatment plan if needed
Immediately reports significant patient conditions to RN or RT and assists with emergent care per standing orders
Conducts daily code cart and quality controls checklist appropriately
Ensures patient safety; Demonstrates and instructs in the safe, and correct use of the exercise equipment
Provides and maintains equipment and supplies necessary for delivery of service
Demonstrates proper body mechanics in stretching and use of weights
Identifies educational needs and provides teaching necessary for each patient by interacting effectively with patients
Teaches formally in classes and informally one-on-one
Demonstrates excellent verbal phone skills to conduct follow up phone calls, insurance verification, and patient scheduling
Demonstrates proficiency in using Cerner to schedule patient appointments and assemble patient charts
Communicates effectively amongst cardiopulmonary rehab staff and referring providers
Demonstrates proficiency in regards to the computer documentation of the cardiac rehab exercise sessions
Monitor/interpret EKG/heart rhythms
Accurately preforms charge entry
Monitor patient and program outcomes as needed.
Promotes cardiopulmonary rehab to potential patients
Participate in team meetings, in-services, and maintains core competencies specific to pathophysiology and comorbidity, professional communication, patient education and training, emergency procedures, exercise, psychosocial, patient assessment, nutrition counseling, weight, BP, Lipid, DM management, and tobacco cessation.
Willingness to identify problems, report concerns to program manager, and participate in problem solving process
Possesses excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees
Must have the ability for work with frequent interruptions, under stress, and with minimal supervision
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Knowledge of cardiovascular disease
· Ability to provide education on Cardiac Risk Factors
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· No Previous Experience Required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
· Master’s Degree
· 2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
· ACLS obtained through the American Heart Association
· ACSM CEP Certification
· Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation class
