The role you’ll contribute:

The Radiation Therapist administers targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection. Specific duties include: checking patient information; preparing room and equipment; patient and family communication; patient transport and transfer; performing radiation treatments; coordinating treatment and surgery schedules; monitoring patient vitals, maintaining department supplies; keeping records; and assisting with teaching.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Monitors daily patient health, symptoms, and radiation induced side effects and alerts appropriate staff when additional care/follow-up is needed.

  • Monitors patient vitals, performs dressing changes, and provides appropriate clinical care and education when necessary.

  • Checks patient information and prepares treatment room and equipment according to radiation treatment plan.

  • Constructs immobilization devices to provide optimal positioning for radiation treatments.

  • Oversees patient scheduling including daily treatments, simulations, and coordination among physicians, surgical operating rooms, and patient transport and organizes care to ensure effective utilization of resources

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Up to 1 Year of Clinical Experience

  • Kansas LRT State License

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)

  • Basic Life Support
