PAY RANGE : $99,200 – $132,300
Scheduled Work Hours : Rotating 12-hour shifts. Other coverage as required.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
The Supv Operations is responsible for leading plant operating personnel in the safe, professional, reliable, efficient, environmentally sound, and cost-effective operation of the power plant. Specific duties include:
Lead and guide the development of individual team members and the operations team for optimum performance. Regularly coach, counsel, advise, evaluate the performance of crew members and maintain appropriate documentation.
Participate in ensuring the plant meets all environmental regulations.
Ensure the quality of pre-job briefings, communication, lock out tag out performance, procedure compliance and shift turn-over.
Serve as incident commander if required.
Fully support and actively participate in efforts to improve equipment reliability and performance including Reliability Centered Maintenance studies, equipment testing and inspection, root cause analysis and heat rate improvement efforts.
Control O&M spending by managing overtime, shift schedules, equipment inspections and repairs, and unit performance.
Ensure optimum dispatch. Insure the dispatcher clearly understands the capabilities of the units at all times. Provide the dispatcher accurate daily and weekly projections regarding unit status.
Ensure standards for safety, quality and productivity are met by following established polices and procedures. Provide daily observation, instruction, correction and re-enforcement of crew members’ knowledge and skills.
Ensure work documentation is accurate, complete and entered into the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Collaborate with Planning to develop and manage a weekly schedule for equipment maintenance. Make daily work assignments that support the weekly schedule.
Communicate information up, down and across the organization.
Share information openly to foster an atmosphere of trust and cooperation within the support group and operations group; create a strategic framework for the effective operation of groups; and provide work direction and resources to effectively operate the plant.
Periodically supervise personnel from other crafts on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Degree in a Power Plant Program and/or at least four years of related industrial operating experience including a basic understanding of reliability-based operations is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety standards. Must have the ability to coach and mentor Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Briefings, and Safety Observations.
Ability to maintain a positive self-image, respond assertively, defend company viewpoints and policy, accept constructive criticism, and demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness.
Ability to respond appropriately to others, take active interest in and willingly help others and modify behavior to build a team culture.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills and intermediate level computer skills. Must be highly organized and be able to create detailed reports.
Ability to coach, counsel, motivate, engage, hold accountable, handle conflict, and remain calm in high stress situations.
Strong technical experience and knowledge of plant processes, system operating principals, and control strategies.
Ability to analyze situations and information, consider the risks and implications, and implement a plan of action.
Must understand Predictive Maintenance information and make decisions based on PdM reports.
Ability to perform the physical activities of the job including but not limited to climbing, color vision, depth perception, hearing, seeing, sitting, standing, talking, walking and outside work.
Ability to handle multiple priorities, make decisions with limited time and data, and process information in an orderly, accurate and timely manner.
Licenses, Certification, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions will require indoor and outdoor work at a moment’s notice in all types of weather. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance. Must live within 30 minutes’ drive time of Jeffrey Energy Center.
